The question of child happiness is very deep because it is not measured by the number of toys or the absence of problems. A child's happiness is, above all, a feeling of safety and inner freedom.
Here are some key signs that a child can be considered happy:
1. They feel unconditional love
A happy child knows: they are loved not for grades, obedience, or a clean room, but simply for who they are. They are not afraid to make mistakes because they are confident that at home they will be supported, not judged.
2. They have the right to all emotions
A happy child is not one who always smiles. It is a child who is allowed to be sad, angry, scared, or to cry. They do not hide their feelings because they know they will be heard and understood.
3. They know how to be fascinated and play
Play is the natural state of a happy child. If a little one can “get lost” in play, shows curiosity, asks a million "why?" questions, and genuinely marvels at the world — their cognitive instinct and psyche work harmoniously.
4. They feel safe
This is the foundation. A child is happy when their world is predictable: they know adults are nearby, that they will protect them, and that at home there is a calm atmosphere without aggression.
5. They have space for independence
Happiness is also the ability to choose. A child who is allowed to pick the color of their socks or the way to retell a story (like in your wonderful initiative!) feels their own significance and strength.
An important thought: A happy child can be raised primarily by a happy adult. The child reflects the state their parents are in.
And who are these happy adults? We will talk about it in the next article.
